

This flagship project brings together literacy, creativity, and compassion. The A Kid & A Comic – Hospital Edition a newspaper produced by famous artists around the country. The stories are published quarterly in the Comic Cove newspaper, distributed to hospitals across Pennsylvania and Chicago.

The Graphic Novel Book Buddy program pairs local students with reading mentors — comic creators, high school volunteers, or literacy advocates — to explore storytelling through graphic novels. Each session combines reading, discussion, and creative response, helping students develop comprehension, vocabulary, and writing confidence.

With hopes that I wasn’t alone in thinking this was a great idea, I began reaching out to all the artists I had developed relationships with the last few year and the response was overwhelming.
